Research & Projects
As an educational researcher, data strategist, and practitioner, my work bridges theory and application to improve teaching, learning, and leadership in real-world settings. I specialize in leveraging assessment data, research design, and innovative tools to generate insights that inform practice and policy. Whether leading predictive analytics projects, designing user-centered dashboards, or pioneering schoolwide instructional initiatives, I bring a systems-level perspective grounded in equity, clarity, and actionable outcomes.
My work in evaluating programs, modeling performance, and managing large-scale data systems equips me to support data-driven decisions in any mission-driven organization.
Below are selected projects that reflect my commitment to impactful, high-quality work that advances student achievement and supports decision-makers across the educational landscape.
Predicting Student Performance Using Interim Assessments
This ongoing research investigates the predictive validity of interim assessment data—particularly midyear scores—for forecasting end-of-year student performance on state assessments in ELA (Grades 3–10) and Math (Grades 3–8). The study addresses both the accuracy of predictions and how test timing within the PM2 window may affect results.
Key Highlights:
Advanced Analytics: Used hierarchical multiple regression with train/test validation (70/30 split), examining interactions between test timing and prior academic performance.
Equity & Timing: Explored whether the timing of interim assessments (early, middle, late window) introduces bias or affects predictive accuracy for different student groups.
Impact: Findings support more equitable and strategic use of assessment windows to improve student outcomes and inform instructional adjustments in real time.
This project bridges psychometrics, educational equity, and policy implementation to enhance data-informed decision-making in schools.
Varsity Tutors Program Evaluation with Broward County Public Schools
This districtwide evaluation assessed the effectiveness of the Varsity Tutors program in supporting academic progress across participating schools in Broward County Public Schools. The analysis focused on understanding the relationship between tutoring engagement and academic gains.
Key Highlights:
Student-Level Analysis: Linked tutoring session data—including frequency and duration—to mid-year academic performance indicators to measure impact.
Statistical Methods: Used regression modeling and descriptive analytics to identify trends, control for prior achievement, and determine dosage thresholds for academic benefit.
Practical Implications: Provided actionable insights on how targeted tutoring can maximize learning gains, helping the district refine implementation strategies for future years.
This evaluation supported data-driven decisions around high-impact tutoring practices and contributed to the district’s strategic academic recovery efforts.
600+ Metric Power BI Dashboard for School Leadership
In my role with Broward County Public Schools, I led the design and ongoing maintenance of high-impact Power BI dashboards that support strategic decision-making at all leadership levels—from school board members to site-based administrators.
Key Highlights:
Districtwide Scorecard: Developed and maintain a live dashboard featuring over 600 performance metrics, aligning district goals with real-time data on student achievement, attendance, behavior, and more.
Survey Insights Dashboard: Created a dynamic visualization tool for stakeholder survey results, integrating both quantitative trends and qualitative feedback from students, parents, and staff.
Impact: These dashboards have become essential tools for data-informed planning, helping leadership teams identify areas of strength and immediate needs across the district.
This work showcases my ability to translate complex datasets into intuitive, visual narratives that drive meaningful action in K–12 education.
AI Task Force Member – Broward County Public Schools
As an appointed member of the Superintendent’s AI Task Force, I collaborate with district leaders, technologists, and fellow educators to explore the transformative role of artificial intelligence in K–12 education. Our work includes:
Policy Development: Contributing to the creation of district-wide guidelines and ethical frameworks for the use of AI in instruction, assessment, and operations.
Innovation Strategy: Exploring how AI tools can support student achievement, streamline administrative processes, and drive data-informed decision-making.
Professional Learning: Helping shape resources and training opportunities to ensure staff can engage with AI tools confidently and responsibly.
This initiative reflects my ongoing commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology with thoughtful, student-centered educational leadership.
All Hands on Deck – Schoolwide Science Initiative
As an elementary educator at Cypress Elementary, I founded the “All Hands On Deck” Science Initiative, a schoolwide effort to elevate science instruction through immersive, collaborative experiences.
Key Highlights:
Schoolwide Engagement: Once per month, all students and staff paused the regular schedule to participate in hands-on, inquiry-based science lessons designed to spark curiosity and deepen conceptual understanding.
Cross-Grade Collaboration: The initiative promoted vertical teaming and mentorship between grade levels, building a culture of scientific thinking and excitement across the school community.
Sustainable Model: Designed a scalable system with shared resources and aligned activities, supported by a dedicated Microsoft SharePoint site I developed to house materials, videos, and lesson plans.
This initiative became a hallmark of our school’s instructional identity and helped shift the perception of science from a scheduled subject to a celebrated, schoolwide priority.
